more yeshivism

Yeshivist elul vort:

"We explain as follows. Tosfos כתובות ק”ד quotes the Medrash that דברי תורה נכנס לתוך גופו that torah words get swallowed into our physical bodies. That means that torah talk which is the word of Hashem as Chazal say in קידושין ל: כה דברי כאש נאום ה is literally flowing through our bloodstreams and becomes part and parcel of our bones and veins. There’s no greater connection than that. "

Tosfos in kesubos actually says

I didn't enjoy it even with a little finger: they say in the midrash that a person prays that the Torah will enter his body, he prays that delicacies will not enter his body, and Miiti Ha Ovada Darbi.

He prays that it will enter his body. You need prayer. It doesn't just enter you cause you learned in yeshiva. It requires another mitzvah to help it. And why would you pray that it enters your body? Presumably it's so that it will bring you to do mitzvos. Why else do you need it there? It's intellectual. Why would you need it to be anywhere but your head?

The Gemara in Kiddushin says
