Hitler laid out two rules for effective propaganda. First, “it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.” Second, the bigger the lie, the more persuasive it is, for, in the simple minds of the masses, even as they themselves lie “in little things,” no one would be so brazen as to concoct an outrageous lie.
