People make mistakes and that is expected, we aren’t perfect. However, one can not rely on that as an excuse for making bad decisions. Coming to Eretz Hakodesh is not for everyone and you shouldn’t let anyone tell you differently. I like many other Bochurim was told about coming to learn in “Israel” for a year and how much better my learning would be, but this like everything else they told me was a lie.
It is true, that many Bochurim who I know who came to Israel for a year claim to have had an Aliyah in their learning. But these guys did the smart thing, they came for a year and went back to America. I am one of the unlucky ones who was told that there was a Shidduch for me and ended up staying and getting married. The funny thing is that they forgot to mention to me that I was agreeing to live in a war zone.
I'm going to say this as bluntly as I can, if you’re Charedi you are hated more than Arabs in Israel. You are considered an enemy by the state and by secular Israelis. The only solution to the Charedi question in their mind is to destroy us. Their weapon of choice is to force us into the military and attempt to assimilate us. On top of that, you will be discriminated against in every aspect of life. Do you need to go to some government office? Or perhaps like everyone else in the world, you're going to want a job. Or maybe you’re just traveling and you have to stop by a predominantly non-religious area. In all of these things, I and many others have personally seen how Israeli society treats Charedim, and it Is not pretty.
Since before my Chasuna, I have probably applied for over 100 jobs. Each time I ultimately faced a Secular tribunal that denied me for the crime of being Frum. And no this is not in my head, I have been told countless times that they are not interested in Charedim. Even though in those particular instances I was the most qualified. I've been screamed at in secular neighborhoods, I've been thrown out of hotels in secular areas when I was trying to visit family staying there. I've been humiliated and discriminated against in almost every aspect of life. I have been told by countless secular Israelis that they want all of the Charedim out.
If you would like to come into a society where you are looked at as a parasite that everyone hates, I guess coming to Israel is for you. I’m not trying to be negative here and I’m no denying that Eretz Yisroel has a beautiful Kedusha. However, that Kedusha is more easily accessed when visiting than it is if you live here. Living here is living in a constant war. Consider this information, daven to Hashem for clarity, and do not rely on the Aliyah propagandists for information.
