He tithes salt

He tithes salt

Yesterday, a few clips from the television drama the Sopranos appeared on my YouTube feed. I haven't owned a television in forty years so I never saw the Sopranos, but I heard about it often at my corporate job back in the 2000s. The Sopranos was a drama about Italian Mafioso from New Jersey.

The acting is very good, which is a problem, because the actors depict violent, arrogant, and crude people. I actually knew some Mafioso from Brooklyn and New Jersey, and while I'm sure they also could be violent and crude, they were actually much more charming and funny than the characters in the Sopranos. The main statement that the main characters in the Sopranos convey is "I'm powerful. I can crush you." It's pure, unadulterated, undiluted arrogance. It saddens me that Americans have gone in forty years from the wholesome characters of the Andy Griffith show to this.

But I am saddened by something more personal. Watching the clips, I was immediately reminded of Zionists. I have a few of them on my Twitter feed, and daily they boast about who they have killed that week. Israeli politicians do the same as they threaten to unleash vengeance on all their enemies. "You can't hide from us," is a common boast as they conduct assassinations all over the world. They boast of “crushing blows.” The blood-lust is palpable. The Israeli press, particularly Arutz Sheva - the so-called "Religious Zionist" outlet (as if there's such a thing as Religious Zionism) also relishes announcing assassinations, arrests, and bombings. They bomb embassies. They’ll take out a hundred civilians on the chance it will yield one terrorist. They are undermining any sense of order in the world. They are corrupting governments. And the crazier RZ rabbis amongst us (they are all crazy to some degree) tell us that all of that is a mitzvah, as if they actually care about mitzvos.

As I read the Talmud and its commentaries, I don't see on every page a diatribe about extinguishing one's enemies. But that's what I see on Arutz Sheva, in the 'proceedings' of the Knesset (I put proceedings in quotes because what goes on is tirades from enraged maniacs), and even Shabbos droshos from official RZ rabbis and the unofficial ones who claim to be Agudists, even though the Agudah was founded originally to combat Zionism.

Esav, became Edom, became Rome, which produced the Italian mafia. There was a Jewish mafia too and it was actually more violent than the Italian one. Murder Inc. was comprised mostly of Jews, and it carried out contract killings and torture for the other ethnic mafias. You know us Jews. We take goyishkite to a level that the goyim can't even muster.

Esav, the brother of Jacob, put on a show of religiosity. He claimed to separate tithes on salt even though that's not required. It was a cover for a violence and arrogance that festered inside of him.

Esav is still with us. He is a "Religious" Zionist "rabbi". And he tithes salt.
