Those who push

American rabbis who live in America are shameful for pushing their congregants to move to Israel. They know little about the place, what life is really like in Israel. They base their nonsense off of little deroshos that they heard. They enjoy life in an affluent democracy that respects religious Jews and assume that Israel must be even better. They are naïve and should shut their big mouths and stick to topics of which they have some familiarity.

But American rabbis who live in Israel are a disgrace if they do anything but warn people stay away. They have no excuse. As much as they consume a daily diet of propaganda, they must know on some level that Israel is a hell hole, a violent, disorganized, low-class, painful place. They must know on some level that the health care is subpar, that the schools are laden with hot-head teachers, that the government is dedicated to the proposition that Haredi life must be destroyed (may Hashem save us.), that it's nearly impossible to earn a living, and that the army is a physical and spiritual danger to its soldiers. Any American who lives in Israel who pushes people to come to Israel operates from selfish ideology, from Zionistic materialism, from stupidity, and from arrogance. Such people are shameful. They may not know it now, but they will find out.

And schools for baalei teshuvah who push aliyah (yerida) are the worst of all because they are preying on innocent people. This includes Shapell's and now Ohr Somayach.
