On the Neve program admissions page:
"Health requirements: Good emotional and physical health is required. Women with physical disabilities are encouraged to apply, but details about the campus should be discussed prior to arrival to ensure that requirements can be comfortably met." https://nevey.org/academics-4/
That is so rude, the part about good emotional health. Does the staff have good emotional health? Should a Jewish girl raised like a gentile be expected to have good emotional health? And how many get emotionally ill at BTs schools that mishandle them? How many FFBs have good emotional health? Plenty do not. This is red flag right here, that the school would write such a thing. You don't say it. Obviously, a person with severe psychiatric issues wouldn't do well in a regular school for BTs, as they are all intense environments. But you don't say it. You screen for people with severe issues and try to direct them to another way of getting introduced to Orthodox Judaism.
The Charedi world has bizarre notions about mental health. They are paranoid about it when it comes to shiduchim. Yet, the irony is that oftentimes it's the people who got help who are the safer ones to be with. It's the ones who won't go near a psychologist, self-help book, or support group that are dangerous. And there's lots of those. They walk around hiding their problems in their religiosity.
You can just feel that intolerance and petulance in this blurb, they don't want anyone with problems. Evidently, they have just had it with such people. But they claim thatTorah life can fix all problems.
