Canada, getting scary

In Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦, they have just euthanized an elderly woman, a practicing Christian, against her will. The scene itself is straight out of a horror movie: the woman was screaming and thrashing around so they wouldn't inject her with the needle containing the intravenous poison that would kill her, which ended up causing the nurse to bloody her with the needle. Yes, it's very graphic, but it's important to share it to understand the macabre reality of euthanasia.

The girl in the photo is her granddaughter and legal representative, who did everything possible to stop this madness. The euthanasia procedure was started while the granddaughter was traveling and without her knowledge or consent. The elderly woman was subjected to a series of questions she didn't understand, and she didn't even know what kind of procedure they were going to perform on her...

For 150 years an English peasant could be blinded and castrated for eating a deer that was standing in his own barley. William the Conqueror declared whole counties "forest". The word had nothing to do with trees. It meant the king's larder, and at its peak it covered a third of England, villages and farms included. Inside it, a peasant could not: - Kill a deer or a boar - Carry a bow - Keep a dog with all its toes - Fence the deer out of his crops - Gather fallen wood without paying - Clear an acre to grow food The penalty for taking a deer, as restated in 1198: both eyes and both testicles. Inside the same boundary, the king could: - Eat all of it So the deer ate the peasant's crop, the king ate the deer, and the peasant ate what remained, which was oats, beans and cabbage boiled in a pot until it gave up. No English king ever had to order the poor onto plants. Owning every animal did the job for him. 900 years on, the people most anxious that you eat less meat are, once again, not planning to join you.

Every three years in medieval England, the king's men went from cottage to cottage cutting the toes off the peasants' dogs. It was called lawing. The dog's forefoot went on a block of wood, a chisel was set across three claws, and they came off with one blow of a mallet. The Charter of the Forest, 1217, records the correct method: three claws of the forefoot, but not the ball. A dog with three toes missing cannot run down a deer. That was the entire purpose. A third of England was royal forest, every animal in it belonged to the king, and a poor man's dog was the one piece of hunting equipment he could not be stopped from owning. So they left him the dog and took its feet. If the inspectors found yours intact, the fine was three shillings, about a month's wages. Before 1217 they simply took your ox. No law ever told that man he could not eat meat. The law took his bow, his dog's toes and his right to the wood, then left him entirely free to work out the rest for himself. He worked it out. He ate oats and beans, and he raised children who ate oats and beans. That is how it is always done. Meat is never banned for the poor. It just becomes, by one sensible regulation after another, impossible to get. Count the sensible regulations being drafted for your dinner this year.

Engelberg built a trust with DiMaggio by making him more money than all of his previous business partners. However, the deceptive lawyer was hoping to take much more without DiMaggio ever knowing. Engelberg stashed hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of DiMaggio's memorabilia, like lithographs, balls, and canceled checks, without DiMaggio's knowledge, hoping to sell them and pocket the profits.

According to Clint Eastwood, during the filming of "The Shootist" (1976), director Don Siegel got into trouble with John Wayne. Midwest Agudath Israel Convention Begins

“MiK’amcha Yisrael : Reaching Heights, Rising Higher” is the theme of the Midwest Agudah Convention 2017, which began Thursday evening at the Renaissance Schaumberg Hotel in Schaumberg, Illinois.

At the Opening Plenary Keynote Session, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation, as hundreds of delegates from across the country gathered to hear divrei chizuk from Gedolim. And they were not disappointed. Harav Aharon Feldman, shlita, asserted that we must define Klal Yisrael’s success as success in limud haTorah, not success in our increased standards of gashmiyus.

Harav Yisroel Reisman, shlita, insisted that the future of Klal Yisrael is in Eretz Yisrael, as we are currently witnessing the shift of the center of limud haTorah and psak halachah to Eretz Yisrael, a phenomenon that has not existed since the times of Rav and Shmuel, 2,000 years ago. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to support the mosdos and citizens of Eretz Yisrael financially and emotionally, and give proper respect to those who come collecting from Eretz Yisrael.

Harav Avraham Schorr asserted that we must recognize our illustrious past, understand how previous generations lived with temimus, emunah, and submission to talmidei chachamim, and strive to follow in their footsteps.

Thursday night’s session certainly presented a taste of things to come throughout the weekend, when over 1,300 delegates, including hundreds of children, will continue to soak up the words of Gedolim and askanim, network with each other, and discuss initiatives to help Klal Yisrael continue to riser higher and higher.
