karens

yaakov feared esav because he feared that his (yaakov's) deeds weren't sufficient, he wasn't worthy of Hashem's protection

when he tried to reveal moshiach to his sons and the prophecy stalled, he feared that they weren't worthy, that's why they said shema to him, to say, don't worry we are with you

today people have barely any sense of doing the right thing, they feel no guilt, aren't worried that they aren't worthy, they are entitled to what they want

the bitachon movement plays off of this, it's mostly people sitting around expecting G-d to serve them regardless of what they have tried to do to improve their own lives
then they say if God doesn't give it to me, i guess it was poison, this is a way of pretending not to be prima donnas
no could be you didn't do enough in your life to deserve it, you didn't do your part
