Did you know there was a slave bible? They didn't just censor books to protect slavery. They censored the BIBLE.
It exists. You can see it: the "Slave Bible," printed in 1807 for use among enslaved people in the British Caribbean, with about 90% of the Old Testament and half of the New Testament REMOVED. What was cut? Exodus — the enslaved Israelites freed from bondage. Scriptures like "There is neither slave nor free... all are one," were all gone. Every verse where God sides with the captive was gone. What was kept? "Servants, obey your masters." Somebody sat down, went through the scriptures of their own faith line by line, and deleted God's opinion of slavery, then handed the remainder to the enslaved as the complete word of God. The Slave Bible is only one example of a much larger history of suppression, violence, and injustice. 150 Crimes Against Black America They Never Answered For documents up to 150 cases that were buried, ignored, or never received justice
